In teams of two we started off with a organic clay form that was digitalised with the use of a 3D-scanner. The shape was used to make moulds where hand-cut glass pieces were melted in at 800°C in a special oven. After experimenting with differently shaped and coloured glass pieces a design was made for a bronze ‘structure’ to hold these glass pieces. The shape was again 3D-scanned, edited in Geomagic, Rhino and Grasshopper and 3D-printed with an Ultimaker 2+ extended.

The print was used to make a bronze casting mould in which the sculpture was eventually casted with the a cire perdue method. The sculpture was finalised by cutting off the air and casting holes and by polishing and treating the surface with chemicals.
